Fort Kent, Maine - On May 21, the Fort Kent Ladies of St. Anne held their annual Mother-of-the-Year celebration. Christy Plourde who has 8 children, 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 more on the way, was this year’s honoree. It was fitting to recognize an individual like Christy who embodies commitment and service. Not only has Christy been a devoted and dedicated mother and grandmother, but she also finds time to give of herself to various community organizations. She has been an active member of the Ladies of St. Anne for 55 years, a member of the Fort Kent Columbiette’s for 38 years and currently holds the position of past president, a member of the Fort Kent Senior Center who served as president from 2008-2010, and was recognized as the 2006 Senior Citizen of the year. Christy is also remembered for her many years of catering, her wedding cakes, and the famous ‘Plourde donuts’. Given Christy’s commitment to the Ladies of St. Anne mission—promoting spiritual devotion to St. Anne and serving family, church, and community—she was a natural choice for this honor.
The Fort Kent Ladies of St. Anne warmly invite fellow women to become part of a St. Anne sodality within their community. Joining is an excellent opportunity to reconnect with old friends, make new connections, and actively contribute to the betterment of our community.
