It can sometimes be difficult to give, especially if you are already giving. But it is important to remember that we are still a part of our local parish. And when that parish is in need we are ALL IN NEED. We can see even the Catechism reflects this need:
2025 National Life Chain, Sunday October 12 at 2PM. The launch location will be in the church parking lot located across the street from St. Louis Catholic Church.
What is a Life Chain? Simply put, it's a peaceful, prayerful public gathering to witness our belief in the sacredness of human life "from womb to tomb" and the need to protect it. Each and every year on the first or second Sunday of October pro-life people across the U.S. and Canada gather in public ways to express this conviction: we are all God's children.
Who is invited to participate? You are. God is counting on us to do whatever we can to protect his children. If you have never participated in this event, we ask you to show up a few minutes early for a briefing.
Bible & Study class with Msgr. Labrie. For old Catholics, new Catholic, OCIA members & anyone else. Starting Oct. 20-May. 6:30pm in the Parish Office Conference Room.
SOCIAL JUSTICE & PEACE COMMISSION
On Sunday, October 5 @ 2PM we will be hosting our 2025 Blessing of the Animals outside the rectory garage. We encourage you to bring your pets of any kind, farm animals or photos of your favorite endangered wildlife species for a blessing. Bring your camera or phone & we’ll be happy to take a “family” photo for you. If possible, bring a donation of cat or dog food for the local animal shelter or food pantry. For their safety, pets must be leashed or in carriers. Join us for this very special occasion as we honor St. Francis of Assisi & celebrate the gift of God’s special creatures in our lives.
At this past summer’s SJV Garage Sale, volunteers’ efforts brought in $23,081.35 in fundraising revenue that supported maintenance & flooring replacement at the FFC & will also support our Parish Needs!
In May 2025, we became aware that the windows at the St. Charles Borromeo church were losing their seal and were no longer efficient. As a result, the double pane windows are collecting moisture between the panes, and we are experiencing heat loss and an increase in heating expenses. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to cover the cost of the window replacement project and keep funds for future renovations when needed. Part of our fundraising efforts include a “Buy a Window” campaign to allow people to put money towards the purchase of a window to honor a loved one or in memory of a loved one who has passed away. Each window costs approximately $375 to replace the panes. A plaque will be created noting their contribution in their loved one’s name. This plaque will be displayed in the back of St. Charles Borromeo church. If you are interested in “purchasing a window,” you may stop by the rectory to fill out a form, or ask one of the committee team members (Arnold Martin, Jenelle Jandreau, Malvia Landry, Patti Voisine, Karen Jandreau, and Lorie Voisine) for a form that you can fill out and drop off at the rectory. Thank you so much for your generosity.
This month, priests across our diocese will begin gathering in their Vicariates (regions) at a minimum of five times of the next 10 months. The first meeting will take place on Friday September 19th, 2025. The purpose of these meetings is to provide time and space for priests to be together, to reflect on pastoral matters, to support one another, and to remember that the priesthood is never lived alone
